It’s been 2.5 weeks since my last lesson so whilst I was feeling quietly confident, I was also feeling rather nervous due to the time between lessons.Let’s break it down, gear changes in the first half hour were great, however my reversing has definitely seen better days…grrrr. We headed onto Kirkwood Road and I can’t believe how many cars are happy to sit up the backside of a learner in a HR truck. If it were me in the cars, I’d be keeping my distance.
The 2nd half hour was pretty good too but I did succumb to the inevitable “I can’t find 4th gear” and of course had to park up and start again. This happened twice at the same spot, damn you Col Brown Ave.
Before I knew it 90mins was over and it was time to head home. I am completely skipping the last 30mins because it was shite.
Key points to remember:
Nervousness causes sweaty hands, sweaty hands mean difficulty holding onto the steering wheel. In other words…chill out
Don’t be nervous about getting out of jail at an intersection
Slow down well before roundabouts…don’t get cocky
Be meaner to the clutch and friendlier to the gear stick
